Jay Penrake in Made In Britain
This is a scene from Made in Britain, the 1982 British television play written by David Leland and directed by Alan Clarke, starring Tim Roth. My brother, Jay Penrake, had just got off a short film playing a monk, so while he had very little hair we had the idea to gift him another showreel piece as the complete opposite – a skinhead.
We filmed it one Sunday afternoon in a meeting room at Jay’s old school Twyford. My dad, Nic Penrake, was co-director, as well as playing the character Peter. Actor Jake Waring played an intense version of Barry. I was behind the camera, operating on a Canon R6, then I did all of the post-production.
Do you prefer Jay’s version of Trevor, or are they both good in their own way? Post your thoughts in the YouTube comments.
